    I agree with the prior comment. It looked so confusing after the first wash but you had it all planned out. Great result Christian! I learned that a simple scene, even if not particularly inspiring, can lead to a lovely piece of art. It’s not what we see, it’s how we deal with and interpret what we see before us. Not easy. Thanks very much Christian.

    Thank you for this wonderful video of the country side and all the Birch landscape. In India we find them in the mountains in winters and in summers they cover the landscape with golden brown. The study came out very pretty I almost wanted to ask if I could have it! Lol! Wish you many more outings this summer and good health. Best wishes.

    I learned a lot watching you paint, especially how you simplified the scene. To me it looked like a mass of trees, but your composition left out a lot of the details. I took note of that. Look forward to your next outing, and hope you have a wonderful summer.

    another technique i've used is to lightly scrape the area that you want the white paper to show with a scalpel, if you do it carefully enough you can scrape off the dried paint without damaging the paper, and it also provides a very nice dry brush stroke texture which makes it look more natural.

    The first time I went out, I set up a camp chair on a slight incline. At one point I r eached for my spray bottle, which began to roll away. I continued to reach out after it which shifted my balance and created a slow-motion tumbling fall. 😂😂😂😂😂😂

    The details are the imperfections. A perfect photo or a memory is imperfect. Its the assymetry and the random silhouettes that truly express in the art. Love it. Awesome man.

    Lovely nuances of layers you e achieved in the clouds.thank you so very much for all you’ve shared over the years. I’ve learned so much from you. You furnished the foundation to my painting. I recognise this is a long ago painting, however I wonder if you might recall/ share pigments used to achieve darkest colour in this piece? I’ve found it so useful when you’ve added pigments information at the end of a tutorial. In gratitude, achille

      @@ckoivumaa thanks for taking the time to reply Christian. I can appreciate that it was looong ago. At 76, I can barely remember what i used last week. Given what you know about pigments you use, could you venture a guess? For instance if you wanted to achieve this today, what would you likely use?

When I use a reference photo I always have it visible during the videos and yes, I explain how I mix and the thought process behind it.

    Thanks for the interesting video. I want to know how many paintings you do a month and how many will be sold by the gallery within the same time. I just started trying things out with watercolor and know that I can´t keep all my paintings, so would like to sell them as a little income when I will be retired in a few years. Do you use any varnish on your paintings? I´m not sure if there is any usable spray for preventing watercolor paints. Best wishes for your career.

    • @ckoivumaa
      @ckoivumaa 4 місяці тому

      It depends on the motifs. A big and detailed painting can take a month to complete but I’d say I’m painting 4-10 paintings a month in average. Some of those are demos or studies. Sales goes up and down and it all depends on the venue and timing. If you can’t find the right customers you’re not going to sell as well. Nope, no varnish.

    Yay to you for getting out there and giving it a try!😊The best quote I remember about plein air painting is to “expect the unexpected”.🤪 To always sit comfortably, bring a gardening knee pad, carpet piece or small rug. Great video! We have all had a tough plein air painting day. I am a watercolor plein air painter of about 3 years and learn a way to get better at preparing and making more successful paintings with each outing.😊
